Bases Empty – Double to the RF Corner – Tandem Relay

Bases empty. Batter hits a ball past the first baseman into the right-field corner. Defense runs a tandem relay:

• Second baseman is the primary cutoff.

• Shortstop trails 20–30 feet behind as backup.

• Third baseman sets up on the inside of third base to avoid the runner’s path.

In the animation:

• Shortstop covers second base.

• First baseman checks the batter-runner at first, then trails as the relay backup.
