Runners at First and Second Ground Balls
With runners on first and second, we’re set at double-play depth. Every defender has a defined role — Ball, Base, or Backup — and our goal is to control the infield and get the lead out whenever possible.
The pitcher, shortstop, and second baseman must communicate before every pitch to determine who’s covering second on a ball to the circle. Corners stay ready for the hard-hit ball, while the middle infielders work for quick feeds and efficient turns. Outfielders provide deep backup on all throws and adjust for possible secondary plays.
This rotation emphasizes timing, communication, and full-team movement — the foundation of great defense.
